In 2008 Hot Rod's "I Like To F*ck" leaked onto the web and instantly won worldwide applause and attention. Underground clubs and online sites rang off with posts and conversation of how different it was. Perez Hilton posted it front-and-center on his site for the entire Memorial Day Weekend and Youtube lit up as well.

Since then, Hot Rod has toured the world doing shows in markets such as Turkey, England, France, Australia, United Arab Emerites, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, China, Denmark and countless territories around the world. As his underground hit grew, Tila Tequila jumped on board and rapped a verse adding to the fanfare of "I Like To F*ck". The world took notice.

Calls continued to come in from areas all around the globe. Even though Rod was freestyling to and remixing hits from artists such as David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia as far back as 2006 and 2007, he began rapping on even more from artists such as Lykki Li, La Roux, Portishead, and others. Rod grew to love his new flavor of music and went full speed ahead carving a place for himself among his peers.

Hot Rod Talks G-Unit To G-Note Transition & 50's Ultimatum

Last week, G-Unit CEO 50 Cent announced the launch of a new subsidiary label called G-Note Records.

With his artist Hot Rod spearheading the new venture as the alternative label’s flagship artist, the guns and bulletproof vests were purposely left out of this marketing plan.

“G-Unit Records is hardcore street influenced hip-hop music, but with G-Note it’s more of a pop, dance and R&B feel. I’m like a fusion of both. You’re still going to hear me rapping but it’s on a different style of production,” Hot Rod tells VIBE.

Having signed to G-Unit in 2006, Hot Rod struggled to find his lane amidst the gangsta bravado associated with the label. After his Mary J. Blige-featured buzz single “Be Easy" failed to meet expectations, the rapper's future looked uncertain.

“50 sat us all down—me, Spyder Loc... everyone," continues the rapper born Rodney Toole. "He told us straight up 'You got to make yourselves hot. I can’t just be doing everything.' He wanted to see what we could do independently. This was back in ’07.”

He continues: “That’s when I took to my own grind and found promoters and did things on my own. Touring really was a big part of me getting to this point. I didn’t lose faith, I just realized I had to step up to the challenge.”

Now based in Los Angeles, Hot Rod’s new musical direction draws heavy influences from the electro and house sounds that he became accustomed to while touring Europe.

“G-Note has been established, but we just didn’t go public until now. The whole plan was to put out 'Dance With Me' as the first single on G-Note. I’ve been touring worldwide since 2007 and hit over 20 countries on my own. All the influences from the road, that's what really took me into this new lane."

Hot Rod is currently working on his debut LP, tentatively titled My Life, and confirmed that he has plans on collaborating with producer David Guetta, Akon and Pharrell.

My Life is slated for a summer 2011 release. It's lead single, “Dance With Me,” is available on iTunes now.

50 Cent launches a new division of G-Unit, named G-Note Records, which will handle R&B, Pop and all other music outside of Hip Hop, and Hot Rod and Governor are the first artists signed to the new label. 50 Cent is da ultimate businessman. It's dope that he founded a label 4 all music genres outside of hip-hop but it's sad that Hot Rod signed there... Anyway 50 Cent knows how 2 make money and "Dance With Me" will be a hit! Prodigy of Mobb Deep Signs a New Book Deal! Autobiography Due in April 2011!

Multi-platinum rap star Prodigy of Mobb Deep is nearing the completion of a three-year prison sentence for gun possession and will be released in early 2011.

The first project to drop from the rapper post-prison will be his upcoming autobiography titled My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy.

The book centers around Prodigy's upbringing, his career as a superstar rapper along with Mobb Deep member Havoc, his various altercations throughout his colorful career and his time behind bars.

The rapper is currently finishing a three-year prison sentence for being caught with a loaded .22 handgun in October of 2006 as he was driving in Manhattan with producer The Alchemist in a bulletproof SUV.

He was one of the first artists sentenced under New York's tough anti-gun laws, which have resulted in prison sentences for celebrities like Plaxico Burress, Lil Wayne and Ja Rule.

Sources told AllHipHop.com that Prodigy is scheduled to be released from prison in February of 2011.

My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy, which was written by Prodigy along with Laura Checkoway, is being released by book publishing giant, Simon and Schuster.

The title is slated to land in bookstores nationwide on April 19, 2011.
